Vitamin C 250mg
Vitamin C, through its anti-oxidant potential, was able to reduce endothelial dysfunction in the forearm after a glucose load of 75g. Forearm resistance to blood flow was reduced relative to placebo. Vitamin C was able to reduce systemic oxidation as measured by urinary 4-hydroperoxy-2-nonenal metabolites. 1g of vitamin C before exercise (30 minutes aerobic exercise at 75% VO2 max) was able to reduce oxidation during exercise and markers of muscle damage.
MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane)(OptiMSM®) 3000mg
50mg/kg of MSM supplementation for 10 days in otherwise healthy untrained men subject to a prolonged cardiovascular exercise test was able to reduce all measured biomarkers of oxidation that were increased by exercise. MSM supplementation at 50mg/kg daily was able to increase whole body antioxidative potential and, secondary to that, reduce biomarkers of muscle damage. MSM supplementation at 3.375g daily for 12 weeks was associated with overall improvements in the symptoms of osteoarthritis.
MSM supplementation at 3g daily for 30 days prior to an exercise test was associated with a reduction in muscle soreness 2 days later (1.5 point reduction on a 5 point Likert scale) and an increase in antioxidant status of the body; no influences on training performance were noted.
Turmeric (Curcuma Longa) Root Extract (std. min. 95% Curcumin) 500mg
A very large (40% or so) increase in serum nitric oxide and catalase was noted with curcumin ingestion at 80mg of a lipidated formulation (via 400mg turmeric root) daily for four weeks. Curcumin, dosed at 1,000mg MERIVA (curcumin bound to phosphatidylcholine) taken in two divided dosages of 500mg, was safe and effective over a period of 8 months in alleviating clinical and biochemical symptoms of osteoarthritis in a population of middle-aged (43+/-2) persons with osteoarthritis. Reductions were noted in IL-6 (27%), IL-1b (65%), and cell adhesion factors. May decrease C-reactive protein if elevated. There are decreases in pain associated with curcumin at higher doses which extend to post-operative, arthritis, and general pain symptoms.
Tart Cherry Extract 250mg
Helps decrease muscle soreness without blunting adaptations. Consumption reduced several phenotypes of metabolic syndrome and reduced both systemic and local inflammation. Tart cherries may reduce the degree or trajectory of metabolic syndrome, thereby reducing risk for the development of type 2 diabetes and heart disease.
ApresFlex® (Boswellia Serrata) Extract (Gum Resin) [std. to 20% 3-0-acetyl-11-keto-B-boswellic-acid (AKBA)] 100mg.
100mg or 250mg 5-Loxin (30% AKBA) was able to confer benefits to multiple rating scales of joint pain relief in persons with osteoarthritis. 6g of the basic plant Boswellia Serrata was able to significantly attenuate joint pain and symptoms in persons with osteoarthritis.
A case study of a women with a brain tumor given 3 doses of 800mg Boswellia Serrata for 10 weeks eliminated the presence of a tumor in her brain that metastasized from her breast.
Astragin® (Astragalus Membranaceus Extract [Root] & Panax Notoginseng Extract [Root] 50mg.
Appears to activate T-cells to a degree higher than the reference drug echinacea. Case studies suggest curative effects. Potential of astragalus for aiding kidney function. A combination of Panax Notoginseng and Astragalus membranaceus that promotes greater absorption of amino acids and other ingredients.
AstraGin® up-regulates both the mRNA and protein expression levels of the nutrient transporters that regulate the amount of amino acids , glucose, vitamins, and other nutrients entering into the intestinal cells.
Collagen Type II 40mg
In patients with osteoarthritis given 10g hydrolyzed collagen over six months appeared to reduce pain assessed by VAS and WOMAC. 40mg of undenatured CII daily for four months appeared to be able to increase joint mobility in subjects who reported non-pathological joint pain (no arthritic conditions) and both prolonged how long one could exercise before joint pain occurred while improving recovery speeds after exercise.
A study in 60 people with advanced rheumatoid arthritis given supplementation of solubilized collagen (0.1mg for one month then 1mg for the next) noted a reduction in joint pain and stiffness to a degree greater than placebo
